Best Left Frustrated After Leeds Defeat
Tommy Best was left feeling a sense of frustration after Hull City Under-18s' 4-2 defeat at the hands of Leeds United on Saturday.
Braces from Niall Higgins and Nohan Kenneh undermined what had otherwise been a competitive display from the visitors at Thorp Arch, and the Tigers' midfielder was left ruing a result that he believes got away.
"We didn’t start very well, but we recovered well from that and got a new lease of life," he said.
"I felt as though that we had just as much chance, if not more than they did of winning the game.
"I thought we were playing really well. We were making chances and came close when hitting the bar.
"When we levelled the scores at 1-1, we gave ourselves a real chance, but a few decisions went against us.
"Maybe, on a different day, we could've come away with a positive result but unfortunately, a great goal from a corner just before half-time gave them a bit of momentum just at the wrong time and then it was hugely frustrating to concede two goals in as many minutes.
"The first of those came about as a result of a silly mistake and, as a result, our heads went down a little bit. The second goal then came about as a result of that and that was a real let down for the team. That’s not how it should be whatsoever."
