Holmes Targeting Return To Winning Ways
Elliot Holmes insists he and his Hull City Under-23s team-mates are determined to get back to winning ways when they face Crewe Alexandra this afternoon.
Jon Beale's side head into the Professional Development League fixture at the Railwaymen's Alexandra Park Training Ground without a win in their last six games in all competitions.
The Tigers came agonisingly close to ending their wait for a maximum return last time out at home to Barnsley, only to concede twice in stoppage-time as the Tykes came from behind to claim a share of the spoils in the 3-3 draw.
Speaking ahead of today's trip to Crewe, Holmes said: "It was disappointing last time out against Barnsley and I still don't quite know how we didn't manage to hold on for the win.
"We shouldn't have let that slip having been 3-1 up going into stoppage-time. But that's gone now and our only focus is on what's to come.
"Take the result away and there were still positives to take from our overall performance, which we've just got to look to build on against Crewe today.
"It's important to look at the things we haven't do so well in recent weeks as well though because we know we need to improve in certain areas.
"We know we've got to get back to winning games and everyone in the squad is desperate to do so.
"We need to start getting results because people don't look at performances, they look at where you are in the table and judge you on that.
"It's disappointing to be at the bottom but we're determined to find some consistency in our performances and results to see us climb the table."
