Jacob: A Fantastic Night
Matty Jacob says the Under-18s' 2-1 FA Youth Cup win over Cardiff City was a night he won't forget in a hurry.
Goals from Keane Lewis-Potter and Rob Guilfoyle gave John Anderson and Terry Boyle's young side an impressive win over the U18 Professional Development League South leaders at the KCOM Stadium to book their place in the draw for the Fourth Round of the prestigious knock-out competition.
Reflecting on the win, left-back Jacob said: "Our league form hasn't been the best this season but last night's game has to rank as one of the best experiences in football I've ever had.
"It was frustrating to concede so early in the game but we reacted well to the disappointment. It wasn’t different from any other game - we just did our normal thing.
"We knew we were on top after growing into the game, so we knew chances would come our way. We kept going and thankfully we got the goals that won us the tie.
"Everyone played their part - it was a real team effort. 'Smudger' (Andy Smith) and 'Rousey' (Jay Rouse) came on and contributed. It was a fantastic night for everyone involved with the Under-18s."
