Jacob Looking To Build On Bolton Win In Cup Clash

Matty Jacob wants Hull City U23s to build on last week's impressive 4-0 league win over Bolton Wanderers when they take on Newcastle United in the Premier League Cup this afternoon.

Jon Beale's side travel to the North-East looking to kick-start their Group C campaign having lost their opening fixture against the Magpies on home soil before seeing trips to West Bromwich Albion and Scunthorpe United at the back end of 2019 postponed.

The Tigers head into today's clash on the back of a morale-boosting 4-0 win over Bolton Wanderers, which ended a five-game winless run, and left-back Jacob is keen to kick on.

"It was great to bounce back to winning ways against Bolton Wanderers last time out," he said.

"You can only take confidence from a 4-0 win whoever the opposition and we'll look to take that into today's cup tie at Newcastle.

"We know that we need a win having lost to Newcastle in our opening group game at home. It's as simple as that really.

"We need to produce another positive team performance to give ourselves the best possible chance of getting the result we need and want."
