Smith Eager For Immediate Response

Andy Smith wants to see Hull City Under-18s bounce at the first time of asking when they take on Sheffield Wednesday.

John Anderson and Terry Boyle's young side slipped to a 3-2 defeat away at Crewe Alexandra last time out and first-year scholar Smith wants to see a reaction from the Tigers in Saturday's Yorkshire Derby.

"Our first half performance against Crewe wasn’t good enough throughout the whole team," he said.

"It pretty much ruined the rest of the game for us. We did quite well to get two goals in the second half, but the game was pretty much gone by half time due to some poor mistakes made by ourselves.

"We know that our performance in the first 45 minutes last weekend wasn't good enough. We improved after the break though and we have to maintain those levels against Sheffield Wednesday.

"We have to put the Crewe defeat behind us and look to push on. There's another three points up for grabs at the weekend and we're determined to get back to winning ways."
