U23s Strengthened With Four New Additions
Four new players have joined Hull City's U23s squad this summer.
The players are Lucas Odunston, Ryan Hanson, Danny Lupano and Callum Jones, who have all signed one-year deals, with a Club option of a further year.
Full-back Odunston and centre-half Lupano put pen-to-paper following extended trials at the Academy in 2018/19, which saw them both play in a number matches for the U23s, arriving from Leeds United and Birmingham City respectively.
Central midfielders Hanson and Jones both penned their first professional deals with the Tigers having previously been on the books at Crystal Palace and Bury.
"It's nice to have brought in some fresh faces to the group," said Academy Manager Jon Beale when reflecting on his quartet of new arrivals.
"A lot of our lads spent the pre-season with the first-team, which is a real positive, but it did leave us low on numbers in terms of the U23s.
"I'm delighted to have added Callum, Danny, Ryan and Lucas to the squad for the 2019/20 season. All four of them have aspects that we believe we can develop in order to help them improve and become better players.
"We see the potential in them all and hopefully they can realise that potential with us."
Beale on Callum Jones...
Callum is a good young midfielder, who was previously on the books at Bury. He signed his first professional contract with us and obviously we congratulate him on that. I think he's going to bring the level of control we want in the middle of the park in terms of possession. He's got a good range of passing and sees the key passes when they need to be made, so he should be able to make things happen for us quite quickly.
Beale on Ryan Hanson...
Ryan is another central midfielder, but is probably a little bit more defensive-minded than Callum is. He's got a good engine on him and again possesses a good range of passing and we see I'm as the player to get on the ball and start attacks for us.
Beale on Danny Lupano...
Danny is a player we had on trial for a period last year. Obviously, he's a centre-back with good physical attributes, as well as having the key defensive qualities you need to play in the middle of the back four.
Beale on Lucas Odunston...
Lucas was previously on the books at Leeds United. He's a right-back who - like Danny - spent time with us on trial at the back end of last season and made a number of appearances for the U23s. He performed well in those games and fit into our style of play and gave us what we look for in our players, which saw him earn a permanent deal. He's very athletic and - like the other three lads - he has real quality to his game.
